P.E.
4M PE days Tuesday and Thursday.
Tuesday led by class teacher and Thursday led my AU Sports.
Children should come to school in PE kit on PE days. Please be aware that we will be doing football and hockey outside in the spring term so children should have a jumper and tracksuit bottoms that are in line with the school uniform policy during the colder months.
If your child is unable to take part in PE due to injury please write a note explaining the extent of the injury and which activities your child is unable to participate in so that we can find a suitable way of involving them in the lesson. If your child has a verruca, and therefore needs to wear their pumps/trainers when taking part in gymnastics, please send in a note marked for my attention. Earrings need to be covered with plasters or tape for PE if they cannot be removed, staff cannot put tape/plasters on earrrings and this will have to be done by parents/carers before school or in school by your child themselves. Long hair should be tied back.
When we are swimming there will be no PE session on a Tuesday as the swimming session (on a Monday) replaces this.

Spelling Shed Infomation letter to parents
SPELLING TESTS WILL TAKE PLACE ON A MONDAY AFTERNOON. Each Monday, children will be given the results of the previous week’s spelling test to record in their Reading Records and the next set of spellings to learn will be set on Edshed. It is recommended that children write a sentence for each word in their list of spellings so that they can demonstrate they know how to spell the word correctly and use it in the correct context.
Maths
Your child will have been given a login for Times Table Rockstars (this can be found in the front cover of their Reading Record). This is a great resource to use to encourage your child to practise their times table facts (and related division facts) in a fun and interactive way. Children will be asked to practise times tables each day in order to ensure they know them all fluently by the end of Year 4.

Homework
To be updated Septmber 2025
Each week, in addition to daily reading, children will be expected to learn spellings and times table facts as detailed in the key stage information letter sent home with your child (a copy of this letter can be found below). It is expected that children will spend 45 minutes to 1 hour on homework each week. We have decided to focus on these key areas of learning in our homework tasks as they are important in building a solid foundation in literacy and mathematics and are areas that many parents feel confident offering support in. If you would like advice or guidance on how you can further support your child at home please take a look at the medium term plans on this page to see what we are covering in school each week.
